A trip to Canada isn’t complete without visiting at least one lake. Here are a few of my favourite lakes and tips that I came across on my three week trip to the amazing country.
Pyramid Lake was a highlight for me. You can rent Canoes and dip your feet in the water on a hot summers day which is exactly what I did. The Glacier water cooled me right down. Such a nice little spot to relax by.
Emerald Lake is known for it’s Turquoise colour. Situated in Yoho National Park, it is absolutely stunning and a must see. I was in awe at how bright the water was.
Lake Louise – The most famous lakes of them all. The one everyone is dying to visit. Is it amazing? Not in my opinion but, worth the trip. I think as I saw so many beautiful secluded lakes this one was spoilt a bit. It was very much a tourist attraction. Next time I will be going at 7am in the morning. A tip – avoid the crowds! I’m glad I managed to get photos but it was really hard to and you had to be quick about it. I do suggest a visit to the Fairmont next door. The Café was lovely to warm up in, as it gets a bit chilly even in August!
About half an hour onwards you’ll find Moraine Lake. This lake had me in awe. Easily my favourite lake and I got much more from it than Lake Louise. More quieter and, I even met a little Chipmunk! You never hear of this lake so, I’m hoping you’ll check it out after reading this. Visiting this lake was the highlight of my trip.
Have you visited any of these lakes? Which were your favourite?
