Christmas Is Here – Disneyland Paris Day One

Recently I went to Disneyland Paris for a brand new season I have never experienced before. It felt like I had entered a new park for the very first time seeing all the Christmas decorations on Main Street. It was truly magical.

Day One

We got an early Eurostar at St.Pancras and had a change over at Lille which got us there for around 12:30. Seeing the Main Street Garlands was something I had been wanting to see for forever and the sight was beautiful and worth the wait, especially as they were all new for the 25th Anniversary celebrations. It is very enchanting as you walk down with every 15 minutes bells chiming as it starts to magically snow!

After taking it all in, we got our spot for the Christmas Calvacade, something else I’ve been wanting to witness in person. This years features a new song called Christmas Is Here and it is very catchy and gets you in the spirit.

It happened to be Mickey Mouse’s Birthday on the 18th November, and City Hall were giving out Stickers and the Cable Car Bakery were selling Cupcakes for Mickey’s special day so, we headed there after the parade of course.

They also had other Christmassy treats onsale including this delicious Santa Cupcake.

It was then time for lunch. We headed for my favourite quick service Restaurant Hakuna Matata. There was a mishap as all the card machines in the park had gone down which, is a nightmare. The queues for the ATM’s were ridiculously long due to this fault. Tip – there’s an ATM in Adventureland by Pizza Outpost and Discovery Arcade. The drummers were a lot of fun whilst eating our meal and let us all have a go!

On Castle Stage, we waited to see a Merry Stitchmas. It is such a lovely new edition for this year and I think we have been spoilt by all the new entertainment offered. This will definitely keep those Christmas Spirits up. Minnie singing All I Want For Christmas is a highlight.

It was then time for Mickey’s Big Band! The highlight of the trip for me. You can read about it all here. It is based in Discoveryland and I recommend getting there early for front row seats.

After Mickey’s Big Band, we headed to the Studio Park to see the talked about Goofy’s Incredible Christmas projection show on Tower Of Terror. As I’m not a fan of Star Wars, I hadn’t seen any of The Season of The Force show on the Tower so, this was a first for me. It was really festive and very cleverly done and I’m pleased there were some live performers included too. Make sure you look all around you as the projections aren’t just on the Tower. I think if it was warmer, I would of enjoyed it a bit more. To get a decent spot, you had to wait about an hour before in the cold. Lots of Hot Chocolates were had whilst waiting thanks to the little carts in the Studios. A lot of layers are recommended for this time of year.

It was then time to warm up in Vapiano’s. Another first as I have never eaten in here before. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon as I’m a fussy eater, there wasn’t much choice for me however, I am impressed that they can cater for your needs.

We were all exhausted after our meals so, we decided to call it a night. The parks are open until 10pm on a Saturday during Christmas. For the first night, I was offsite in HiPark and I haven’t stayed here since last April. I was lucky and got upgraded to an Executive Apartment which, included a nice bed instead of their standard sofa beds, it was a nice touch as it was very spacious. I booked my stay with Holiday Hamster – check them out to book your stay at Disneyland Paris, highly recommended and an easy check in was had.
