Disneyland Resort during the Halloween season
It has become a tradition for Disney Parks to celebrate the Halloween season. With Main Street adorning autumnal decor, including Disney California Adventure Park taking part in the action, it is a great time to visit. Especially with its hard ticket event. Over in Florida, we have the infamous Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I thought couldn’t be topped, however, after experiencing the popular Oogie Boogie Bash, this one knocks it out of the park and is a brilliant edition to this time of year.
Grand Californian Resort Display
Each year, Disneyland’s Grand Californian Hotel will have a spectacular display made out of cake, icing and special spooky treats. Last years happened to be the king of Halloween himself, Oogie Boogie. Created by baker Jorge Sotelo, it is very impressive that there is a new one made by him each year. I think this one fits in incredibly well with the Oogie Boogie Bash parties. I was lucky enough to check into the Grand Californian on my first trip to Disneyland last year, and to see it in person was truly spectacular, as it sat in its rightful place in the grand lobby.
Disneyland Resort’s Halloween Decor
It has always been a dream of mine to see the huge orange pumpkin at the top of the original Main Street U.S.A. Disneyland always out do themselves with decorating for spooky season. Including a pumpkin patch around the Walt and Mickey statue. Even the shops had bunting decor all the way down Main Street. Characters have their fall outfits on and the Villains wonder around the park.
Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlay
Every year, it has become a tradition at Disneyland to turn it’s original attraction The Haunted Mansion into a Halloween Town overlay with, The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Featuring Jack (Sandy Claws) Sally and Oogie Boogie. It is fantastic to see the two seasons merged together within a classic attraction but, still keeping it’s original charm.
Oogie Boogie Bash Special Ticket Halloween Party
Oogie Boogie Bash is a popular hard ticket event over at Disneyland Resort’s second park DCA, (Disney’s California Adventure Park). It sells out instantly each year and rightfully so. I got to experience this event last year, during the D23 Expo. It was by far one of the best hard ticket parties Disney have done that I have attended.
From treat trails to rare characters, this party has something for everyone. The lines for character meets are super efficient in DCA. What is unique from previous years, is that they have introduced character interactions within the treat trails themselves.
Some of the characters I got to meet were Bruno (Exclusive debut last year), Hercules, Blue Fairy, Jane (Thor, another new addition to the party) and Merlin. Part of the treat trail interactions included; Agatha Harkness, Maleficent, Ed, Live Action Cruella, Mother Gothel, and also brand new for last year was Ernesto de la Cruz. They were all incredible to talk to whilst collecting sweets just like at Mickey’s Not So Scary. Stand outs for me were Bruno, Agatha Harkness from the amazing WandaVision, Scarlett Witch herself, Mother Goth and Ernesto playing his smooth guitar for all his guests.
The projections in the Villains Grove were excellent theming as well. So many things to look at.
The Frightfully Fun Parade was also a nice touch to the event. A unique parade featuring Nightmare Before Christmas characters; Jack and Sally, my personal favourite the Bride and Hitchhiking Ghosts from The beloved Haunted Mansion attraction.
Don’t forget to check out Guardian’s of The Galaxy’s Halloween overlay, with Monsters After Dark. It is a frightful adventure (not for the faint hearted).
Oogie Boogie is a phenomenal event, which goes onto the early hours and if you can, I would highly recommend to attend.
